Frida Kahlo Doll

Here is my Frida Kahlo doll.  I love this doll, I have been meaning to post this on etsy asap.  I will be making more dolls as soon as I can.
I started off by making this little template.

I embroidered a heart onto her chest.  I didnt like the color of the cloth so I decided to paint her.  I mixed some fabric paint and painted her once I filled her with poly fill. I also decided that she needed some chones.
I braided her hair and attached it.  I wasnt sure about her heart and then I realized a great way to fix the misplacement of the heart.  I decided to paint her a chest cast.  I painted her beautiful face, but will probably change somethings on the next doll.
I then made a circle skirt and a little shirt, then she was done. hehe.
I am hoping to participate in my first craft show and I am extremely nervous.  I have been an a crafty roll and hope to continue.  Soon I will post pics of these projects.  Thanks for reading.

Crafty Corazon Creations!

Lately I have been crazy about crafts, it might have something to do with my lack of a J.O.B.  I am grateful for the the time I have to work on my artsy side, but sad that this job market is not lending itself to an aspiring teacher...sigh*
Anywho, here are my latest creations, hope you enjoy.

First, this was the hand made blanket for my Elmo obsessed nephew.  I also made him an Elmo finger puppet (which I blogged about here)  and included many, many Elmo books and socks in his Easter basket.

After that I had tasted craftiness and I could not get enough.

I finally got around to making my Frida Kahlo doll. I love her so much, its going to be hard to part with her, but I will manage.  I will write a post specifically for my Frida Kahlo creation, but for now here is a little peek.

Here are some pictures of my coming up projects.

And speaking of projects that are yet to happen, here is the finished version relating to this post.

Which was originally inspired by this lovely creation, I just added my own flare.

On the more exciting news, I have decided to participate in my first craft show.  I am extremely nervous and anxious because I fear I will be rejected eeekkk.  Ill keep you posted on this new crafty development.

Hasta pronto,
Pita

As of late...

So once again I have failed to keep up with my post, but before you all go an dump me, let me explain.

First the month started off extremely well. Mr. J and I went to see the King Tut exhibit at the De Young in San Francisco. It was amazing! We had a really great time and we ate at this really wonderful little hole in the wall and we will definitely visit again.

After that, family visited, and that was a blast. Mr. J and I went to Napa for the first time and we are completely hooked! I love the vineyards and the loveliness of the whole wine drinking scene. Napa is a little pricy for our blood, but we will treat our self once in a while.
After the Napa weekend whirlwind Mr. J and I went on a little adventure and found that green living isn’t as hard as we thought. We got a nice surprise when we were able to become a little greener with this mower.  Its an electric mower, and we were able to recycle our old ugly gas mower when we pick this one up.

The weekend that followed was also very exciting and I could not get a second on the computer.

More recently our adventures consisted of a day out in the sun at UCD for the annual picnic day. Mr. J and I celebrate every year because picnic day marks the day of our first “official” day as a couple 9 years ago. On top of picnic day, we have made it our mission to attend as many wonderful concerts as our wallets allow us to. One recent concert we attended was “Atoms for Peace” IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!! If you don’t believe me, google review and find out for yourself.

As of late our house has been taking most of our energy and effort, we took it upon ourselves to work on our little casita and little by little make it our dream home.
Till next time.
Have a wonderful Sunday!

I lied..

And I am sorry. I had said that I was going to try to post a lot more, and I failed completely. So March was apparently not my month. Bad news came pouring onto our lives like a flash flood that we barely paddled our way out of. I am so happy that April is here and I can move past the craziness that was March. Yet even though I failed to post more in the month of March, I was able to get some stuff going with my little Crafty Corazon creations. I needed a lot of quiet time in March, so during these quiet sessions I was able to create a lot!
Lemme share some goodies with you now.

I started the month making a cute little frame as a “thank you” for a friend. I love Calaveras and use them a lot in my art work and here is one of my favorites so far.

We had family visit from southern Cali (YAY!) and I took advantage and created a cute little Easter basket for my little nephew. We are short on cash right now so I made him an Elmo blanket ( I will post more on this later) an Elmo finger puppet and a bought a ton of Elmo books. It was an Elmo extravaganza!

After creating the Elmo finger puppet I decided to make more finger puppets because they were so fun to make. Here is my Frida Kahlo puppet and my five little Speckled Frogs puppet. Both of these will be available on my Etsy shop, once I get it back up.

So all in all I am glad March came and went, but also grateful that I was able to get some things going. April will be awesome! I can already feel it. I love spring and summer because of all the events and activities that each weekend holds.
Con Amor,
Pita
