Spacemen!

So this my most recent creation.  My kinder and 1st grade kiddos need help with word spacing.  On many teacher websites they sell whats called "spacemen".  They are basically clothes pins painted to look like little astronauts, get it space men.  These little guys are used when writing on kid paper to space words correctly.  Many young writers have a hard time spacing their words correctly, these "spacemen" provide the right amount of space in between each word.  They are great writing tools, but at $25 bucks or so for 25, they are just not financially practical, especially since I can make my own.

Here is my inspiration.

I found some clothes pins at my local Michaels for $4.

First I spray painted all the flat clothes pins.

I created somewhat of an assembly line. I decided one detail to paint and painted that detail on each clothes pin.

After I finished painting them I simply took my trusty black sharpie and drew in the face and outlined some details.

Ta-Dah!!! My cute little "Spacemen" ready to help the little ones become amazing writers.

Total cost for my 30 spacemen: $4, I already had all of my materials.  Total time spent, about an hour. YAY!!!!!

Thanks,
Pita

Glitter DOES make everything better

So according to my old post, glitter might not make everything better, oh was I wrong.  After feeling let down by the glitter, the ultimate crafting must, I decided to give glitter another chance.  I am so glad I did.

First I painted my nails with the blue nail polish, and then I sprinkled some lovely Martha Stewart glitter (the best one).  It turned out fantastic!!!!

I am enamored with the outcome, it is great!!!!!  Slowly but surely a little bit of glitter came off, the majority stayed and they are just as shinny as ever.

Let me know what you think.

On another note.  here is a little something I made for my classroom.  I was inspired by the large magnetic white board writing paper.  The writing paper they sell on-line or at teacher store cost about $20 to $30 dollars.  Really!!??  Well I took a plain ol' poster board and drew the lines.  The flower and the clouds are to teach handwriting.  Children are reminded to always touch the ground and the sky if the letters are capitals and also if they are long and lean.

Caturday Continued....Valentines Day Decorations

So after the last post my crafty night began.  I am a kinder/1st grade teacher and I am in constant need of decorations.  Many decorations look cheap and are really expensive, and sometimes they are inexpensive but not very cute.  This lead me to start thinking of inexpensive and durable alternatives.  And here is my attempt at $4 valentines day decorations.

I started by spray painting these little beauties.

They are supposed to be red and pink, but the ones that are pink look cream :-/

Then I decided to use some glitter, everything is better with glitter right?  Wrong!  I am not sure if I like the outcome, but I will see once they dry.  If they don't come out looking the way I want them to I will just scrape off the glitter re-spray paint.

This is what I will be doing the rest of the night....correcting this disaster.  Ugh, when I was younger I would have not been seen in public with nails like this.  I am going to try something new and fun, we will see how my new "fancy" nails turn out.

Happy Caturday!

Today was a very good day. Mr. J and I cleaned our bedroom, did some laundry all while listening to some bad a** music and all before noon.  We also had the opportunity to go grocery shopping, something we had not done since god knows when.  The only down turn to the day was the 40 min, YES 40min, wait time to check out.  I guess we were not the only ones trying to finish the "to do" list this weekend.

On a crafty note, I picked up some craft supplies this week and I am now starting my crafting night.

Would you like to know my obsession at this moment.....

Spray paint!
Anything and everything can be spray painted and I love the results.

My little collection

Here are some pics of my project to come, well one of them at least.

These will be hanging in my classroom very soon, they just need a little color.

These will also be used in my classroom, they just need a little somthin somethin'

I will post some "after" pictures shortly.

Weekend Happenings

My last post was focused on changing my daily habits, so far so good.  I was determined to get out, do something explore, and just break the cycle of lazy Sundays.

Today was a good day, a lot was done with the hubby.  We went exploring, bough some yummy shoes and had some yummy sushi.

I have a lot planned for today, but because we were out so long I just wanted to go home and relax which we ended up doing.

Later tonight I am posting new items on my etsy account so I will come back and post another blog note.

Contemplation

Today while getting ready to do nothing I came to the realization that…
  1. I am my own worst critic, I mean bad, bad, bad critic.
  2. I always stand in my way
  3. And I can be a professional procrastinator. When it comes to procrastination, I am a Viking!!  LOL

Today I decided that no more, no more of this and no more of me postponing things to another day.  I will work on doing now, now now!

I am proud of myself for calling myself out on this, but I know that this is going to require others support.

Anywho. I had a very very lazy Saturday, but I plan to have a very productive Sunday and Monday (fingers crossed).

See you tomorrow.

Pita

I don't know if anything will sell, but its always nice to think that someone is looking and thinking to themselves "how cute".

Sneak a peak at my Etsy account and check it out, let me know what you think.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary my little blog....sorry its almost a month late :-/

A year ago on December 9th I decided to take the plunge and submerge myself into a blog.  It was a somewhat dark time in my life and a blog was my life line into the world.  I took a step in the right direction and have grown because of it.

Thank you to all my followers,  I hope to have many more at the end of this year.

Lots of love.
